Oregon DEQ presentation in Roseburg
on the Jordan Cove Terminal and Pipeline
Umpqua Community College, 1-15-15, 6-9 p.m.
Campus Center dining room.
Tonight, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is coming to Roseburg for another hearing and to explain Oregon State's involvement in the terminal and pipeline. DEQs focus is on impacts to clean water, salmon streams and wetlands. A packed room will help demonstrate to the State our strong opposition to the pipeline and terminal.
If DEQ denies these permits, the Jordan Cove project is finished. Now is the time to let the state agencies know you value clean water more than dirty energy!
Oregon DEQ wants to hear if you have concerns on the 400 waterways and streams the pipeline could cross, requiring the permanent removal of stream-side vegetation.
DEQ will also explain how the State of Oregon will process wetland fill permits on private property (or not) even though the landowner has denied access to their lands.
If you can't make it to the Roseburg or Medford meetings, please send a letter to DEQ describing how this project is not in the best interest of Oregon.
