It's What We Do
Support and Empower Communities...
Where to start...
Oregon Community Rights Network is made up of communities throughout the state of Oregon who are working to return power to the people and protect the natural environment... by making democracy a reality.
We support and empower communities to exercise their right of community self-government and make the best decisions for themselves by providing guidance and education ….
We fight for change by unmasking the laws, rules, and regulations that prevent it. We ask hard questions and unlearn what we’ve been taught about democracy and the system that is supposed to benefit us.
We recognize and help others understand how the current legal and governmental systems prioritize corporations and profits of human beings and nature. We expose the barriers we all come up against, no matter our specific cause, that prevent us from making the real and meaningful changes we want and need. [see Box of Allowable Activism]
We advocate for a future where corporations no longer have more legal rights and personhood than people, communities, and nature… where the natural world, and all living creatures, are rightly entitled to the healthiest and most just future possible.
Are you tired of the status quo? Are you tired of the same old activism (and politics) going nowhere.

Are you wondering why all of your hard work is amounting to very little?
How are we different than other organizations?
We ask the hard questions!

(And we enjoy poking the bear. We are fearless when it comes to fairness.)
Our goals are to:
- Create a strong rights based movement across the state, and
- Change the laws at the highest levels of both the State of Oregon and eventually, the U.S. Government.
Very important to the achievement of these goals is the spread of rights based organizations.
Both ORCRN and CELDF are ready to assist individuals and groups with getting a rights based organization started in their area. This usually works best when there are tangible ways in which your community’s fundamental rights are being violated. These violations can have to do with a variety of issues such as:
- pesticides,
- giant polluting pig and tree farms,
- transportation and extraction of fossil fuels,
- contamination of agriculture by GMO agriculture,
- toxic mining practices,
- wages that are not livable, union issues, and other rights violations.
