OUTRAGEOUS: Despite suffering from potentially the worst drought in the state’s history, California is continuing to allow the oil industry to inject millions of gallons of toxic oil waste per day into the state’s dwindling groundwater supply. Outraged environmental organizations, led by Earthjustice, are now suing: http://ejus.tc/1IjBP7F

The state’s Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources is permitting the contamination of protected aquifers until February 2017, in clear violation of state and federal law. The wastewater from the oil industry has now contaminated underground water supplies in scores of aquifers across the state, from Monterey to Los Angeles Counties.
